Evaluation Question 7

Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt i the progression from it to the whole product?

From the preliminary task i feel that i have improved 100%, i have learnt a load off new skills on photoshop, publisher and just simply how too make a magazine front cover, contents page and double page feature and by making them look as professional as they do. Compared to the preliminary task i think that i have improved a lot, from then till now. I have learnt how too analyze different pages of a magazine and realize that there is a lot more meaning too each page than what i thought at the beginning  i have learnt the mass amount off work that goes into each page off a magazine. I have learnt the typical features of a magazine. What kinds off colours too use so it looks professional but also catches the reader attention and i have learnt how too make certain things on a document fit together too make a finishing product like the pages off my magazine. And finally how too make pages flow so that the reader doesn't get distracted or bored of the magazine.

Evaluation Question 6

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

I have developed my photoshop skills, since at the start i had never even opened it up too have a look at so that was all new too me. I have learnt how to edit images, by the contrast, blemishes, cutting the outline off an image out, blending to images into another, and many other. Another skill i learnt was how too piece each page on the magazine together at them end off finishing them all, i used a blank canvas on photoshop to measure the right size for each page and added the element to it. Alternating the sizes and position until i liked the way it looked. I have also developed my skills on Published documents because that is how i put all off the work i had done for each page together on the document so it was presented nice, I learnt how too get a double page spread, using all the tools, to crop, edit, reshape, move, position  bold, font sizes, font styles all those skills where improved by the making off the magazine.

Evaluation Question 5

How did you attract/ address your audience?

I used a wide range of different techniques too attract the audience to my magazine that i learnt from analyzing different magazines. I included interesting stories that cannot be found anywhere else to draw the reader in. I also added incentive's such as competitions so that they would believe that they where getting more out of the magazine.  Additionally my magazine has a wide range off genres and artists throughout the magazine which will appeal to my target audience, this is a good feature so the audience get to find out about there music artists and news about them or what they have been up too recently. The title off my magazine will appeal too all ages of my audience because of the word 'Sound' is associated with the way you can hear music, by hearing the sound so straight away they will know what kind off magazine it is.The contents page would address the audience because the language  used is suitable for the age range 15-30 year old, also the images used are all well known singers which 15-30 year old would know or be fans of. The front page of the magazine addresses the audience because the main image used is off a young girl so this would attract the audience too read the magazine. Also the colours used aren't colours which are bright and in your face. The double page feature suits the audience because the colours used are pale. the image used of the band 'The Script' would suit the audience since it's a well known band and very popular. so this would suit the age range since a lot of people between the ages of 15-30 year olds listen to 'The Script'.

Evaluation Question 4

Who would be the audience for your  media product?

The primary target audience for my product is young adults around the ages off 15-30 year old. This is because the majority off people in this age group are more likely too buy this magazine than any other. The secondary audience for the magazine would be people like family and friends,  who have discovered the magazine through either primary audience or myself. And enjoy similar music genres which are in the magazine. The social economic groups that my magazine is aimed towards are around the C to E this is because although my price of the magazine is quite average for music magazines today it is still quite expensive for a student these days, and with my target audience starting fro 16-30 year old i though this social economic groups was satisfactory. But also because the majority off people in this age group will listen to those genres off music.  My magazine is neither female of male based, my magazine is just  based on a selection of music genres for both female and male.

Evaluation Question 3

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

If it was to be published, i think that Bauer Media would be the best media institution to publish it because it is responsible for many popular magazines such a Q and Kerrang and many more. The fact that the institution already sell the biggest UK magazine, Kerrang is a good thing so they already have an audience who will want too buy my magazine also because off them already selling music magazine they are familiar with the concept of what to do. Bauer has a large target audience, of every age and a variety of interests this is good since my magazine have all different types off genres. Bauer media is also responsible for metroradio and magic, this means there will be an even bigger audience who listen too the radio who may be interested in my magazine.
A good thing about the mixed genre off my magazine is that the biggest magazine in the UK which they sell has a certain genre, so maybe all the people who don't want too read that kind off music may go for mine too find there genre off music they like.

Evaluation Question 2

How does your media product represent particular social groups?

My music magazine represents all genre types off music so it can fit too any social groups whether it's Rock, Pop, heavy metal, R'n'B, ect. It appeals to people whether they just like listening too music, in love with it or just find it soothing. The articles in my magazine are enjoyable, fun and for someone who just wants too switch off from the world and get into the world off a famous artist of there choice. My target audience would be (15-25 year olds) by giving them news off all genres off music and bands, upcoming gigs and many more this should be a popular magazine with the wide range off things you can choose from.

Evaluation Question 1

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge  forms and conventions of real media products?

On the front cover of my music magazine 'Sound' uses some forms and conventions already used by real music magazine's and companies. I decided too name my magazine 'Sound' because the genre of the magazine is a music magazine i think that the work sound shows how its a music magazine, i got this idea off using a word that is from music from other computers of music magazine such as 'Kerrang' this has a sharp ring too it.  It's features which are also found on typical magazine such as a central main image that draws the readers attention, this image is of one of my friends. I decided too use her since she listen to the same kind off music which is featured in my magazine, and i also though that her looks fitted the design and visual appearance of the magazine. I took this image in a brightly lit room, in front of a window so that the light could brighten her face up and contrast the darkness of the background. the shot i used was a close up, i decided too use an image from the shoulders upwards because i wanted to catch the readers eye with the big image of the girls face. instead of her body, because i felt like if i used her full body that the headlines and subheadings would taken over the magazine and if there is too much going on the front off a cover off a magazine this might put the reader off from buying it, but with the use off just her face and a few headlines i felt that it filled the front cover well. I edited my image on photoshop to create a eye catching effect on my reader. i cut the background of the image surrounding the girl, and i added a black background to the image too make the girl be the main thing that stood out on the front cover, as for the actual image of the girl i didn't edit on photoshop i left it how it was since it was the correct brightness that i wanted for the front cover image. I dressed the girl on the front cover in a dark purple shirt and i also used a dark purple colour lipstick on her lips to link in with the colours that i have used throughout the magazine. I have used a range off colours throughout  the pages of the magazine such as dark shades of purple, blues, black and greys. My magazine, informs the reader about different gigs, goss about the different artists which feature in the magazine and also lets you know about the up coming new singles out. there are a lot of conventions that i have challenged in my magazine, the majority of music magazines have one specific genre off music but my magazine goes for a wide range off different genres of music, from Rock, Pop and R'n'B. I have used a range of styles in my photography to attract the reader more instead off just the particularly common one where all off the artists are posing in my photography there are live bands playing. This particular image is featured on the front cover and the contents page, it was taken while i was at a gig and i decided that it would be a good image too use in my magazine as it was a quite clear image and an action shot.

Flat Plan- Double Page Feature

Double Page feature- music Magazine

This is the Double page feature for the music magazine, I produced this on Publisher document.I used the same image as on the Contents page but i edited it on Photoshop by making the name of the band The Script and the name of the album #3 bigger so that i could use it as a double page feature, i then just used the image of the CD cover with the band members on too put right in the center of the page with the name of the band and the name of the album  on the left and right of the photo too add effect, for the layout.  The layout i used for this double page feature was too run with a pale grey background and have the writing in black but the lines separating the writing too be a darker grey.I added quotes from the text, and made them more bold and put a box around them so that they would stand out. Along the bottom off each page i put the Month, year and website along with the page number in the corners of the page the same as on the contents page. All off the text is in columns reading from left too right. I though the use of the greys and black would be a change from he more colourful pages you see in most magazine, i thought that it would look good and also link in with the actual album cover from The Script.

Flat Plan- Contents page

Contents page- Music magazine

This is the contents page for the music magazine. I produced this piece off work on a publisher document, All of the photos taken where my own photos. The first photo is the one off the front cover of the music magazine which i edited on photoshop. The second photo i took when i aw Mcfly live, i have a range off photos for them but i though that particular photo was the correct and clearest one too use. The third photo used is off Ed sheeran when i saw him live also, the light used in that photo i though it worked well with the dull background of the contents page. The forth and biggest photo on that page is off The Scripts new album cover '#3' I took this of the front off there album and just uploaded it. The final photo on this piece of work is off myself for the editors blog part where i wrote a bit for the reader too feel more connection with the magazine and his or herself. The background was taken by myself also, i did this by have a black piece of card and splashed the colours blue and green's on the card using a toothbrush too get that effect, i though this would be good instead off just a simple plain background and not many other magazines use it so it would be unique. Along the left hand side there is the contents in what is going too be in the magazine, Along with page numbers, there is also page numbers on the four photographs on this page in the corner this links in to what page you can find out things about those photo and what it's showing you. Along the bottom of this page i put the month and year of the magazine when it's out and also the website for the magazine. I thought i would  make it simple since i didn't think there should be loads going on, since the majorty of the contents should be on the actual pages off the particular page. I though that having a more simpler page would make the reader want too read on into the magazine.
